Over the years, many accidents have taken place due to the presence of bovines on the road. A sizeable number of two-wheeler riders have either got injured or lost their precious lives in the process. In Ponda, the situation has been aggravating day by day. Cattle not only relax all over the road, but also occupy the entrance area of shops causing inconvenience to one and all. Even parking areas are not spared. Adjacent to Hotel Menino in the vicinity of the old bus-stand, cattle occupy the parking area meant for two-wheelers. Hence two-wheeler riders wishing to park their vehicles here cannot and as a result, end up parking their vehicles by the roadside thereby causing inconvenience to vehicular traffic proceeding along this busy route. The adjoining picture amply depicts the truth. The Ponda Municipal Council (PMC) however has failed to bring this menace under control. With a view to assure relief to travellers and pedestrians alike, it is necessary that this authority initiates appropriate positive steps at the earliest.
