It is really very sad that the Kadamba Plateau which is hardly 4-5 Kms from Panaji and about 2-3 Kms from Old Goa is lacking in basic facilities like water, telephone connection, transport, post office, drainage system, etc. Successive governments have failed to address the problems and as usual people are promised the moon and stars at the time of elections. It is also pertinent to note that one small part of the Kadamba Plateau falls in Panaji constituency, another small part in Kumbharjua constituency and the major chunk in St Cruz constituency. If all the three MLAs/ministers decided to solve the water crisis, they could achieve it in a matter of weeks. But unfortunately the genuine desire for results is missing and people feel that more responsibility lies on the Chief Minister of the State. Two huge overhead tanks have already been constructed and are awaiting to cater to the needs of the residents. But unfortunately the pipeline which can carry the water to the overhead tanks is missing. The only thing that is required at this point of time is the will power and commitment on the part of the authorities to provide this infrastructure. PWD Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar is on record saying about 2 years back that he will make water available to Goa 24 x 7. The CM, too, had promised us about 2-3 months back that he will work to provide water on the Kadamba Plateau by October 17 when a delegation from the Plateau had approached him. We are anxiously waiting for the project to see the light of the day.
