With the increasing number of robberies during recent years, the installation of CCTV cameras at households and offices/establishments gains great significance. The footage captured on CCTV’s can prove beneficial to the police for speeding up the investigation process. Ultimately, it becomes rather easier to nab the culprits.
However, some persons/ establishments do not take up the matter seriously and overlook installation of such helpful devices. In a recent robbery at United India Insurance company’s office at Tisk in Ponda, some unknown persons gained entry by breaking open the glass/ window grills and decamped with cash amounting to Rs. 35,000.
Unfortunately, due to absence of CCTV cameras at these premises, police were unable to get the necessary clues in order to start the investigation. Indeed, such cameras have proved beneficial on many occasions. In a recent case, the movements of a thief at a Goan residence were monitored by a family member via mobile phone from Kuwait. This was solely possible due to the installation of cameras at their residence in Goa.
It is absolutely necessary that such devices are installed at homes, schools/colleges, financial institutions, jewellery shops and other important establishments. Such a step would go a long way in exercising control over miscreants and anti-social elements.
