Thane’s #FixRoadsElseNoVotes protest: Lessons for Goa

The protest campaign by Thane residents who pledged to boycott all elections until roads in their localities are repaired resulted in TMC chief Sanjeev Jaiswal meeting with soil-stabilising technology AggreBind’s executives to use American solution to fill potholes. This technology will ensure that these repaired roads remain in good condition for 5 years. It’s great to see the authorities pay heed to the citizens complaints. Reportedly, this would be the first use of water-based polymer product in India.

Government primary students are still struggling

The Education Department has not been able to get its act together with regards to appointing full-time teachers at government primary schools in Goa. The recent case at Pissurlem indicates that the government is still not in a position to allot full-time English teachers even in places where there are students enrolled.
