FC Goa at full strength for Durand Cup

Midfielder Edu Bedia will lead the FC Goa squad in the Durand Cup which kicks on September 5 in Kolkata. 

Bedia is among four foreign players picked in the squad by coach Juan Ferrando. Forward Jorge Ortiz, midfielder Alberto Noguera and defender Ivan Gonzalez are the other foreigners in the squad. Bedia, who took over the FC Goa captaincy at the beginning of last season, is into his fifth season with the club.

Fourteen of the 29 players in the FC Goa squad are homegrown Goan talents and Ferrando has named Devendra Murgaonkar and Delton Colaco in his forwardline alongside Ortiz. Delton is one of the five players promoted by the Gaurs from their developmental team. The others are Hrithik Tiwari, Lalmangaihsanga (Papuia), Brison Fernandes, Christy Davis and Delton Colaco. 

New signings Nongdomba Naorem, Danstan Fernandes and Manushawn Fernandes will also compete for a spot in the playing squad. The talented Muhammed Nemil is also in the mix.

FC Goa are in Group B alongside Indian Super League rivals Jamshedpur FC, Army Green and Sudeva Delhi. Ferrando’s men will begin their campaign against Army Green on September 7.
