Abu Dhabi Goans, a community organisation active in the UAE since 1983, hosted the 9th edition of their flagship dine and dance event, ‘World Goa Day 2025’, at the Abu Dhabi Country Club on November 22.
The celebration attracted more than 500 guests, who enjoyed over 11 hours of non-stop music, dance, and cultural showcases.
True to their tradition of presenting top Goan talent, the organisers featured various performances. The popular Goan band ‘True Blue’ captivated the audience with their energetic performances and blend of classic Goan, retro, and contemporary hits.
They were joined by the powerhouse duo, Tammy and Roy, celebrated for their remarkable vocals and seamless harmonies, along with Dubai-based band ‘Crimson 5’, who ensured a continuous flow of lively music throughout the day.
Since its inception in 2015, the annual gathering has grown into a semi-formal ballroom event known for its vibrant atmosphere and community spirit.
Cultural performances were among the highlights, including a graceful presentation of the traditional Dekhni by six young dancers set to the iconic ‘Hanv Saiba Poltoddi Voitam’. A spirited rendition of the classic ‘Marcha da Fontainhas’ by a group of youngsters added further charm to the celebration.
Guests were also treated to an elaborate Goan buffet featuring favourites such as Pulao, Cafreal, Vindalho, Vegetable Fugath, and the traditional sweet Vonn.
Attendees appreciated the smooth organisation, and meticulous attention to detail, with many looking forward to the event every year and praising the organisers for keeping the Goan flag flying high in the UAE.

The organising committee reiterated their dedication to supporting the Goan community through cultural initiatives, educational outreach, youth development, community recognition, and welfare efforts.
Globally observed on August 20, World Goa Day commemorates the inclusion of Konkani in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution in 1992.
Looking ahead, Abu Dhabi Goans have announced their upcoming cultural celebrations, including the grand ‘Viva Goa, Viva Carnaval’ early next year, followed by ‘Viva São João’.
