BJP leader Ravi Naik said he will push for creating Ponda as the third district so that administration can reach the doorsteps of the people, even as he offered to contest from Marcaim constituency. “I have already spoken on this issue with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and he has given a positive response in this regard with an assurance that he will issue an order,” said Naik, while speaking to media persons.

“At present, people from areas in Ponda have to travel either to Panaji or Margao for all their administrative work. My dream is to bring the administration to the doorsteps of people. I have been raising the issue of a third district for many years.”

Accusing the Marcaim MLA (Sudin Dhavalikar) of failing to deliver in his constituency, Naik said: “If BJP gives me the ticket, I am ready to contest from Marcaim.”

“The time has come for people of Marcaim to think deeply on what the MLA has done for the constituency in the last five years.” “I am in contact with people of Marcaim. They remember during my tenure as MLA of Marcaim, I had built a hospital, set up the industrial estate and community halls. After that, there have been no infrastructure works for the last 25 years,” said Naik. While Naik is eyeing the Marcaim BJP ticket, his son, Ritesh, is one of the aspirants for the BJP ticket in Ponda constituency.
