MARGAO

A day after the government inaugurated the Margao old age home, even terming the renovated house a “five star facility”, Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai on Friday alleged that the antique Altar from the home for the aged has gone missing. He further slammed the government for not inviting him for the inauguration of the renovated old age home when the facility is located in his Fatorda constituency and that he had got the home renovated with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) over a decade ago.

Visiting the old age home with fruits for the inmates, Sardesai has demanded the whereabouts of the antique altar from where the local priests used to conduct masses inside the home for the aged. “We have photographs to prove that there was an altar inside the Old age home when we had taken up renovation of the structure around 2019 with the help of CSR from businessman Deep Karapurkar. Now,  I have not come across the altar. I want to make clear that it was not just an altar, but part of the state’s heritage”, he said.
