PANAJI: The Goa Police Anti Narcotic Cell, in association with the Narcotics Control Bureau, organised the ‘Run Against Narcotic Drugs’ 10-km marathon at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Bambolim, on Sunday to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. The event aimed to spread awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Citizens, students, youth, police personnel and representatives of various organisations took part enthusiastically. Director General of Police Alok Kumar flagged off the marathon. Chief Secretary Dr V Candavelou stressed the need for joint efforts by the government, law enforcement agencies and the public to tackle drug addiction. Omkar Patil and Swizel D’Souza won the men’s and women’s categories respectively.
