International Yoga Day marked with great enthusiasm and fervour

International Yoga Day was celebrated across the State on Friday. From government to private efforts and the participation of general public to prominent personalities made the celebration of the day a grand success.

Pernem Police

The Pernem police sub-division office organised a yoga session on Friday to celebrate International Yoga Day. SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi arranged the event, which saw participation from all police inspectors of Pernem Police Station, Narayan Chimulkar from Mopa Airport Police Station, and Mandrem Police Station, along with PI Vishwajit Chodankar from Pernem Traffic Cell and PI Mahesh Kerkar from Mopa Traffic Cell. The programme was held with the assistance of Sadguru Yog Gurukul and saw a total of 123 police staff members and students from schools in Pernem participate.

INS Hansa, Dabolim



The Yoga Institute, located on Chorão island, commemorated International Day of Yoga 2024 with the Navy personnel stationed at INS Hansa, Dabolim. The event took place in the esteemed presence of Rear Admiral Ajay Theophilus, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area (FOGA), alongside various dignitaries.

Shree Mahalaxmi Primary School



Shree Mahalaxmi Primary School, Panaji celebrated “Yog Divas” under the leadership of Tr Bindiya Kavlekar and Tr Leenta Potdar. All the students from std 1st to 4th participated in the yog session with great enthusiasm.

St Thomas Girls HS, Aldona



Over 400 students, accompanied by their teachers, marked the International Day of Yoga 2024 at St. Thomas Girls High School under the guidance of Ayushman Arogya Mandir, PHC Aldona. The session was led by Yoga Instructor Seva Gad. Organised by Mihir Khirjuemkar, Extension Educator, the event was graced by Dr. Vidya Parab, Health Officer, and Dr. Aditya Barve, Ayurvedic Physician. Highlighting the occasion, certificates were awarded to the top performers of the Yogastar Contest held by PHC, Aldona. Palak Raul secured first place, followed by Asma Bandodkar in second, and Sara Gadekar in third.

AIIA’s Hospital Block



The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), Goa marked the 10th International Yoga Day with a celebration focused on unity and well-being. Organised by the Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga, the event brought together staff, students, and the community at AIIA’s Hospital Block in Panaji. Suneel Anchipaka, Director of Tourism and MD of GTDC, Jyoti Sardesai, and Prof Dr Sujata Kadam (Dean, AIIA Goa) participated in rituals like Deep Prajvalan and Patanjali Sthavan.

Mallikarjun College, Canacona


International Yoga Day was celebrated in Shri Mallikarjun and Shri Chetan Manju Desai College in the presence of teachers and non-teaching staff as well as students. Former student Lavdesh Velip demonstrated Yogasanas at function. Teachers Pravinya Bhangle and Anisha Sawant Desai introduced yoga asanas.  The celebration of International Yoga Day was a great success under the supervision of the coordinators. Lt. Commander Karisma Parsekar.  Comparing & vote of thanks was done by Ulka Kalekar.

Mahalaxmi Temple hall, Panaji



YUVA, in collaboration with Bharat Swabhiman, Patanjali, AU Small Finance Bank, Panjim Gujarati Mahila Mandal, Rotary Club of Dona Paula, and Goa Branch of WIRC of ICAI, organised a Yoga workshop at Shree Mahalaxmi Temple hall in Panaji on June 21. The event, conducted by Kamlesh Bandekar and team following AYUSH ministry protocols, saw over 140 participants Representatives from ICAI, Rotary Club of Dona Paula, AU Small Finance Bank, and YUVA were also present. Chirag Verenkar managed the programme.
