Talk on father of modern chemistry

Dr M R Ramesh Kumar, former chief scientist at National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) gave a talk on the father of the modern chemistry in India Sir Prafulla Chandra Ray at St Aloysius School at Divar, one of the oldest schools in Goa founded in 1929. The talk was a part of the pre-fest activity of the Science Film Festival (SFF) scheduled from April 26-28.

The SFF is being organised by the Vidnyan Parishad Goa in association with Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) with an aim to introduce the students to the science and scientists in India through books and documentaries. The SFF will highlight scientists like Sir C V Raman, Homi Bhaba, Vikram Sarabhai, J C Bose, S N Bose, A P J Abdul Kalam, Srinivasa Ramanujan etc. “Our own Goan famous Scientist, DD Kosambi also played an important role in developing the scientific temper amongst the students,” stated Dr Ramesh Kumar while addressing the students. The headmaster Anand Fadte welcomed the audience. Students were given books on Indian scientists and a book ‘Sagar’ about the National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) and some snacks.
