The Department of Women and Child Development (WCD) celebrated International Women’s Day on March 8 at Campal Indoor Stadium on the theme ‘Choose to Challenge’. The overall objective of the occasion was to focus on gender equality and cherish the progress that women have made towards the goal as well as acknowledge the road that lies ahead. Collector North Goa Ajit Roy, IAS was the Chief Guest for the function. The key note address was delivered by Deepali Naik, Director WDC.Motivation talk by eminent speakers on the aspects on ‘women Empowerment’ by Auda Vieggas, Coordinator of One Stop Center and President of Bailancho Ekvott and by Emidio Pinho, Coordinator, One Stop Center North Goa District and Incharge of SCAN Goa on the topic ‘Men Empowered through Women’.
The celebration consisted of various events such as competitive sports such as tennikoit between the departmental ladies and gents staff, Kho-kho between anganwadi workers and anganwadi helpers. Prizes for the winners and certificates to all the participants were distributed on the occasion. The Joint Director ICDS Sangeeta Parob gave the welcome address and CDPO Tiswadi Chaya Kadakade @ Melchior proposed the vote of thanks.
