CM extends greetings to media fraternity on National Press Day

PANAJI
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has extended his greetings to the media fraternity on the occasion of National Press Day.

National Press Day is celebrated to commemorate the establishment of the Press Council of India which was formed in 1966. National Press Day is the symbol of a free and responsible press in India as Press Council of India acts as a moral watchdog for media.

CM in his message emphasised the role of media to raise public awareness on the role of free, pluralistic and independent media in the development of democratic society. Appreciating the hard work put in by all media, especially the reporters and cameraperson, who work tirelessly on the ground, towards contributing democratic development of the society,  the CM appealed to them to put the perspective of the government too before the people.

During the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic media played a very phenomenal role in the process of dissemination of proper information to the public, strengthening the government machinery to combat COVID -19 more effectively, he added.
