Marvin Gonsalves was elected unopposed as the new deputy sarpanch of Curca at a special meeting in the panchayat on Wednesday.Nine of the 11 panchas were present for the meeting, including Sarpanch Verodiana D’Souza.
The post of deputy sarpanch was vacant on account of resignation of former deputy sarpanch Gautam Naik.Extension officer Mahesh Kuttikar was the presiding officer and panchayat secretary Lency Juliao Dias assisted in the election process.
PERNEM Manohar Kerkar was on Wednesday elected unopposed as sarpanch of Arambol.The post had fallen vacant following the resignation of Pratiksha Naik in a mutual agreement formed among other panchas.Kerkar was the lone panch to file a nomination and he received the support from panchas Anant Gadekar, Inacio De Souza, Bernard Fernandes, Manisha Naik, Pratiksha Naik and Divya Waingankar.
