Director of National Book Trust (NBT) Lt Col Yuvraj Malik has advised students to read at least 10 pages of a book every day to increase knowledge and build vocabulary. He was speaking at a programme organised by Vidhya Prabodhini college in Porvorim. College Principal Dr Bhushan Bhave, Vice-Principal Dr Anil Thosare and Librarian Nitesh Naik were present at the event. Stating that the NBT has published books in over 50 different languages, while also translating many books for the benefit of readers, Lt Col. Malik said the NBT has different schemes for budding writers.
“Reading is an exercise while helps sharpen and develop the mind. The process of grasping and understanding the written word helps the mind expands and keeps the brain functional,” Lt Col. Malik. “Reading enhances knowledge and the more knowledge is acquired, the better equipped you are to tackle any upcoming challenges. To be a good orator one needs to be a good reader,” he said. Nitesh Naik introduced the guests and Kedar Tadkodkar compered the programme.
