MARGAO
The city’s unsung heroes, the front line daily wage garbage cleaners, received help and a pat from the Rotary Club of Margao (Main) as the NGO distributed over 70 20 kg bags of essential commodities to Fatorda’s daily wage garbage cleaners at Nehru Park in Gogol, Fatorda.
The initiative was fully supported by Finolex Industries Ltd through their CSR partner Pune-based Madhav Mukul Foundation. The program is a part of the larger all-India initiative #GiveWithDignity launched by Madhav Mukul Foundation whose primary focus is in the areas of healthcare, education, social welfare and water and environment conservation.
#GiveWithDignity is an initiative to feed over 3,000 individuals and 70,000 households across India. Wednesday’s initiative was presided over by the president of the Rotary Club of Margao, Dilip Prabhudesai.
Margao Municipal Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes showered praises on the garbage workers and stressed on the significance of their work.
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Margao, President Dilip Prabhudesai thanked all the workers for doing tremendous work in keeping the city clean and reminded those present how much the citizens are dependent upon these unsung heroes.
