A bright but needy student from Viscount of Pernem High School (VPHS) was presented a smartphone, to enable him pursue online classes.
Pernem BJP Block President Tulshidas Gawas presented the phone to the student, Kumar Bhagat, through the Rotary Club, Pernem.
Those present on the occasion included Rotary Club member Dayanand Mandrekar, school headmaster Raju Bondre and teacher Rajmohan Shetye.
Gaeas said he would continue helping such students who are hard-working and needy. School headmaster Raju Bondre thanked Gawas for his help, while Dayanand Mandrekar highlighted the activities of the Rotary Club in Pernem.
The government has started online classes for schools and colleges, but lack of devices and poor internet connection have left many needy students struggling to pursue online classes.
