Coal pollution has finally brought together residents ofVasco to decide on the fate of the town.
On Sunday, likeminded people got together to chalk out afuture course of action to save the town from the nasty coal dust.
After a lengthy discussion, the citizens decided to knockthe doors of justice. It was decided to file a detailed affidavit on the dustpollution that is affecting the town.
“There is an urgent need for the people of Vasco to approacha court of law against coal pollution. Coal pollution has become a major healthrisk and could soon result into a severe epidemic,” said Milton Barreto, formerchairperson of Mormugao Municipal Council.
The citizens also decided to submit a detailed medicalreport before the court on the health risk posed by the coal pollution.
Power Minister, Milind Naik too joined the concernedVascokars and have assured all possible help to eradicate the coal pollutionaffecting the town.
The citizens later approached Chief Minister, ManoharParrikar and recounted the problems faced by the residents in Vasco. Parrikarpromised to visit the town to take a-first-hand information about the issue.
