A 23-year-old Bicholim resident was arrested on charges of raping a minor girl, Mapusa Police said.The alleged incident took place in April and came to light after the parents found the girl one-and-half month pregnant.
According to the complaint, the accused, Prajol Gaonkar, intentionally developed friendship with the 14-year-old victim girl and further took advantage of the situation to allegedly rape her.
Mapusa Police registered an offence under section 376 (2) of the IPC and section 8 of Goa’s Children Act, section 4,8, 12 of POSCO act against the accused Prajol Gaonkar who is a resident of Bicholim.
LPSI Richa Bhonsle, along with Head Constable Alvito D’Mello, Police Constables Prakash Polekar and Rajesh Kandolkar arrested the accused. Mapusa police is investigating further.
