MARGAO: CAC Cansaulim prevailed over SAI Avtar Anjuna 9-8 via the tie-breaker to enter the quarter-finals of 6th Martin Cup, organised by Betalbatim Sports Club, at Betalbatim panchayat ground, on Friday
The match started on fast paced note as Anjuna made first moves through Umesh and Kunal in the 14th and 16th minutes respectively which was foiled by Cansaulim defence lines. Anjuna's Benny sent a long pass to Vinayak Mulgaonkar who made no mistake to hit the target in 20th minute.
Changing over, in the second half, Anjuna scored the second goal through Benny Dias in the 35th minute. As match progressed, CAC Cansaulim changed their plans and made two substitute and they scored through Elvino Fernandes in 45th minute. Selwyn Soares converted a spot kick in the 55th minute as they match ended 2-2. In the resultant tie-breaker, Anjuna scored through Soma, Jesman, Vinayak, Benny, Kreepal and Dinesh while Samuel, Selwin, Alton, Elvino, Melwyn, Rio and Dextor found the target for CAC Cansaulim.
Elvino Fernandes of CAC Cansaulim was awarded man of the match by Bernard Ferrao, ex footballer of Betalbatim.
