MARGAO: Selwyn Soares' brace for CAC Cansaulim and ensured his team entered the semi-finals by defeating United Club Benaulim 2-0 in the All Goa inter-village Seraulim Panchayat Cup football tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim, at Panchayat ground, Seraulim.
Both team ended the first half without a goal being scored.
The second half saw more offensive football with both teams trying to create inroads among their opponents and it was at this time that CAC was the first to score when Ashwin Soares smartly placed the ball towards the rushing Benaulim keeper in the 39th minute for Selwyn to tap in.
Just before the dying minutes of the game, Selwyn Soares scored his second goal when he ran solo towards the left flank after receiving a defence splitting pass from Chadwick Furtado and scored from close range.
CAC Cansaulim will now meet the winners between St Anthony's Colva & USC of Seraulim on January 26.
