Verna police on Wednesday arrested Mohammed Junaid Hussain Shaikh (18) from Cansaulim on charges of raping a minor girl. According to Verna police, the mother of the victim girl filed a complaint late Tuesday night stating that the accused Shaikh had forcibly sexual intercourse with her minor daughter in December and that the minor victim girl was nine weeks pregnant. Verna police have arrested the accused Shaikh under Section 376 IPC and Sections of POCSO Act and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act. Verna police is investigating the case under the supervision of PI Diogo Gracias and guidance of Mormugao DySP Salim Shaikh.
