Children of freedom fighters get govt jobs

Goa government has given jobs to 23 children of freedom fighters fullfilling their long-pending demand. The sponsor letters will be dispatched to all 23 selected candidates shortly. They will be appointed in 11 different departments under the scheme for providing employment in government to children of freedom fighters. Earlier, cabinet had approved certain relaxations to accommodate the unemployed children of freedom fighters in govt service.

Penha de Franca ex-sarpanch passes away

PORVORIM Former sarpanch of Penha de Franca and social worker Bhiku Sawant passed away due to Covid-related complications at the Goa Medical College Hospital on Monday evening. He was 72. Bhikubab, as he was fondly called, had tested positive and was admitted to GMC hospital on May 2 for treatment, where he breathed his last.He had served as sarpanch of Penha de Franca panchayat for 13 years and had taken active part in social activities.
