The no-confidence motion brought against Colvale Sarpanch Babani Salgaonkar was successfully passed 5-0 in a special meeting held in the panchayat. Salgaonkar and three other panchayat members did not participate in the meeting. Five panch members who had moved the no-confidence motion “ Nityanand Kandolkar, Michael Fernandes, Radhika Bandekar, Ajakshya Phadte (deputy sarpanch) and Sheetal Chodankar “ voted in favour of the motion.
The beleaguered Sarpanch Babani Salgaonkar and panchayat members Dashrath Bicholkar, Ritesh Warkhandkar and Priyanka Bicholkar remained absent.The five aggrieved panchayat members had moved a no-confidence motion against the sarpanch stating that he was not taking the panchayat members into confidence while taking crucial decisions. Following the notice, the sarpanch had submitted his resignation to the panchayat secretary.Sources in the BDO informed that another meeting will soon be held to elect a new sarpanch in the village panchayat.
