MARGAO: Cuncolim Union had to sweat it out to beat Nuvem Sports Club 5-4 via the tie-breaker to enter the finals of the All Goa inter-village Seraulim Panchayat Cup football tournament, organised by United Sports Club of Seraulim,at Seraulim panchayat ground.
The first half no doubt belonged to Nuvem and had three attempts missing the goal by inches. They created gaps and combined well as a team however were unable to score.
The second half witnessed an entirely different Cuncolim Union team who took charge and started dominating and scored their first goal through Vayne Pures in the 33rd minute to give them the lead. It was then Nuvem SC who took charge and started pressing for the equaliser and their hard efforts bore fruits when Godfrey Mascarenhas scored from close giving no chance to the keeper under the Cuncolim bar.
Since both teams drew 1-1 at regular time the tie-breaker was applied and. Cuncolim Union made it by scoring all their five penalties. Nuvem S.C penalty was saved by Cuncolim keeper.
