MARGAO: Hosts Cuncolim Union got the better of CAC Cansaulim 3-1 to enter the quarter-finals of the Tavares Family Memorial inter-village football tournament, at Cuncolim School ground, on Thursday.
Cuncolim Union dominated the game and pushed their opponents on the backfoot scored all their three goals in the first twelve minutes. Viraj Velip gave lead in the fifth minute off a pass from Vayne Pires. Ansh Patel doubled the lead off a header from Viraj Velip's cross. Wilson Fernandes netted the third goal for Cuncolim Union in the 12th minute off a through pass from Viraj. The only goal for CAC Cansaulim was netted by Dinesh Naik. Aaron Fernandes of CAC Cansaulim was adjudged as man of the match.
On Wednesday, A hat-trick by Asfin Pinto helped Ambelim Sports Club down Sao Jose de Areal SC 3-1 to enter the quarter-finals. The lone goal for Sao Jose de Areal SC came in the second session through Listen Mascarenhas.
