PANAJIThe Cinephile Film Club will be screening the old classic movie Godfather II at Maquinez Palace, Old GMC Complex on July 28 at 6.20 pm. Sachin Chatte will host the cult classic directed by Francis Ford Coppola and the first sequel ever to win an Oscar for Best Picture with cast Al Pacino, Robert De Niro and Robert Duvall. The 3.16-hour film is one of those rare films that is considered as good or even better than the original film by some critics and audiences. Partly based on Mario Puzo's book (screenplay co-writer), the film explores the early days of Vito Corleone (Robert De Niro replacing Brando) as a 'prequel', while it also traces Michael's (Al Pacino) expansion of the Corleone empire. The film was nominated for 11 Oscars and won 6, including the Best Picture, Best Director for Coppola, Best Supporting Actor for De Niro, and Best Adapted Screenplay for Coppola and Puzo.
