Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW), New Delhi has announced Goan teenager Yash Sawardekar as the awardee for the National Bravery Award 2020.
Yash is the first from Goa to receive this award which will be given in March, informed the ICCW, a private organisation from Delhi that confers these awards.
The award is being given to Yash for his feat in 2018 when at the age of 13, he had saved a local youth from Pali from drowning in the river. Various organisations from Goa have already taken note of this and have felicitated Yash.
It is to be noted that the Ministry of Women and Child Development has clarified that the awards conferred in the name of ICCW National Bravery Awards by a private organisation are not recognised by the Ministry and it is not in any way associated with them.
