Verna police on Tuesday registered an offence against Majorda Panch member and anti-coal activist Creson Antao on charges of abusing and assaulting a resident of Cansaulim.
According to sources, Verna police registered an offence against Antao under Sections 504, 326 and 427 IPC based on a complaint by Frazier Sunil Saldanha (47) of Cansaulim.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred at Arossim railway gate on May 30 at about 10 am.
Antao was accused of abusing the complainant and when the complainant approached him and questioned his abusive language, Antao is alleged to have removed an iron rod from his car and assaulted the complainant, causing him injuries to his hand and other part of the body.
The complainant complained that Antao later fled from the spot. Verna police is investigating the case.
