Goa is experiencing an unprecedented situation due to the second wave of the Covid-19 outbreak. The corporates have stepped in to support the government’s efforts to handle the situation in these tough times. In a bid to support Goa’s fight against Covid-19, Ulhas Jewellers has joined hands with various organisations to make a difference to the society and financially assisted Goa Sikh Youth Association, Popular Front of India-Goa and Gomantak Pashu Raksh to reach the Covid-19 affected as a part of their CSR initiative. The Bambolim based Goa Sikh Youth Association has been providing fresh vegetarian meals daily free of cost to the Covid patients, their families and friends. The group was one of the first to respond to the calls for oxygen cylinders to be provided in time of need.
Popular Front of India - Goa is another association that came on the streets to feed the hungry in the pandemic times. Their selfless work of giving free rations, giving decent burial or cremation to the victims, providing ambulance or hearse van services to help the positive patients or victims has been going on. The jewellery house has extended their support to the organization. Similarly, Gomantak Pashu Rakshak Sanstha has selflessly been rescuing, adopting and providing shelter to stray animals over the years. This pandemic has been a challenging time for the animals. Ulhas has been contributing in a small way to their cause.Earlier this month, Vikram Verlekar, the managing director of Ulhas Jewellers organised a blood donation camp at Margao in association GMC blood and collected over 50 bottles of blood.
