MARGAO: A second half spot kick enabled Pax of Nagoa Sports Club to overcome Geno FC 1-0 in the GFA's Goa Professional League at Nagoa Panchayat Sports Complex on Saturday.
Pax of Nagoa got a clear chance as early minute of the game when Schubert Pereira failed to beat rival goalkeeper in one to one situation as early moment of the game Striker Wendel Savio Coelho failed to tap it in the 35th minute.
As the match neared half time, Nagoa nearly struck match winner when Velroy Fernandes ballooned over from close range.
The action unfolded swiftly after change of ends when Schubert Pereira was brought down inside the rival penalty box and referee awarded the spot kick. Schubert sent the rival goalkeeper the wrong way.
Meanwhile, the Sirsaim ground witnessed a goal-scoring extravaganza as FC Goa outgunned Calangute Association 6-3. Malsawmtluanga stole the show with a phenomenal hat-trick, his left foot weaving magic on the pitch.
His first goal, a fierce volley, left Calangute keeper Sanij Bugde stunned. Dalwin Coelho equalized for Calangute, before Malsawmtluanga restored Goa's lead with another left-footed strike.
The second half saw Calangute fight back, with Dangmei Gaipuilan scoring their third.
However, Goa remained dominant, adding further goals through Abawiha (twice) and Bryson Pereira. Ashwek Jadhav put the icing on the cake with Goa's sixth goal, sealing a resounding victory.
