MAPUSAA major tragedy was averted in a moving Kadamba bus after the driver noticed smoke emanating from the engine at the court junction Mapusa on Friday evening. The bus was brought to a halt in the middle of the road at the junction and all the passengers were alighted from the bus as soon as the smoke was noticed by the driver. The incident happened at around 4 pm. The bus which originated from Arambol was proceeding to the Mapusa bus-stand. The Mapusa Fire Station personnel rushed to the spot and disconnected the supply of the battery to the engine which caused the sudden smoke. No one was injured but the incident led to a traffic jam around the busy court junction inconveniencing motorists.
