PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar assured the Goa Legislative Assembly that pending works will be completed before the monsoon season and these will be tendered before the end of March.
Seeking to reassure opposition MLAs who moved a calling attention motion alleging partisan attitude of the government in not attending to the development works that ought to be completed before the arrival of the monsoon in the opposition constituencies, Dhavalikar admitted that there was a delay on account of the new GST regime.
“I assure that all works up to Rs 15 crore (non-capital) and Rs 3 crore (capital) will be cleared before March. From January onward the estimates began coming in. I will see that all estimates are passed before March. I will personally call and see all the files,” Dhavalikar said.
“If any engineer says file is pending on account of GST, complain to me. I will transfer that engineer on the same day. It means that he is not capable of doing his job,” Dhavalikar said.
Earlier, several legislators, especially those from the opposition, claimed that the only thing they have been hearing over the last one year is that works are pending either because of GST or GSR or other reasons.
“Works are not moving forward. First you said GST now you are saying GSR. People are telling me: ‘You are doing nothing’. One year has passed. You are the PWD Minister. I think this is a delay tactic that is happening,” Leader of Opposition Kavlekar said.
Similar concerns were raised by Cuncolim MLA Clafasio Dias, Santa Cruz MLA Tony Fernandes, Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes and others.
