The award will be presented to Chavan at Hotel Peninsula in Andheri-Mumbai, on Monday, at 5 pm and the event, organised by Kalyanji Jana on behalf of Dadasaheb Falke Award Films, will be attended by several well-known personalities in various fields.
The ‘Dadasaheb Falke Icon Award Covid Warrior 2020’, instituted by Dadasaheb Falke Icon Award Films and unveiled recently by Governor of Maharashtra and Goa, Bhagat Singh Koshyari, honours actors of the film industry, editors of print media, journalists, scientists, NGOs and others for their exemplary work to help the poor and the needy people during the Covid pandemic.
Apart from telecasting regular news to viewers, the ‘Sindhudurg Live’ Channel has been offering a series of programmes on social, education, economic, sports, health, agricultural and religious issues.
During the Covid pandemic and especially during the lockdown, the ‘Sindhudurg Live’ Channel Editor In Chief Sagar Chavan began his mission of ‘Ek Hat Madaticha’ to help migrant labourers who were stranded in the Konkan region.
He provided food items to nearly 2,000 labourers by visiting their huts, distributed Arsenicum Album tablets to boost their immunity and also distributed face masks to them.
Chavan also felicitated nurses who worked tirelessly during the Covid pandemic by conducting a ‘Thank You Sisters’ programme on Sisters Day. He also conducted a programme ‘Thank You Doctors’ on Doctors Day.
Aware that folk artistes and women had been idle at home during the lockdown period, the ‘Sindhudurg Live’ Channel also organised a ‘Fugdi Mahotsav’ programme, thereby making a digital platform and digital employment available to them. Chavan also provided a spiritual guidance programme ‘Corona and Mind’ to the people.
Chavan also conducted online devotional songs, Malvani Swad recipes, ‘My IPL star’ competitions as well as ‘Celebrity Life’ programmes for the benefit of viewers.
Recognising his several contributions to society during the pandemic, the Dadasaheb Falke Icon Award Films has awarded Chavan with the prestigious Dadasaheb Falke Icon Award Covid Warrior 2020.
