Alert citizen, cops help reunite 3-yr-old girl with kin at Saptah

Navelim kid was lost in massive crowd on last day

VASCO

An alert citizen from Vasco and Vasco police helped reunite a three-year-old girl with her family at the Damodar Saptah Fair late Sunday evening.

According to information available, the three-year old girl who had arrived with her family from Navelim was lost in the massive crowd on the last day of the Damodar Saptah fair in Vasco.

The panic-stricken parents frantically looked for the girl everywhere but she was nowhere to be found. The distraught parents then approached the police at the outpost near the Damodar temple and requested the police for assistance.

However, an alert citizen Sanket Lotlikar played a major role in reuniting the three year old with her family.

"I was roaming in the Saptah Fair with my family when I saw a small girl moving alone near La Paz hotel with a toy in her hand. We then realised that she was probably lost and we asked her name but she was small and she could not speak properly, probably because she was scared,” said Lotlikar.

“We continued to follow her and when she reached the police outpost, we informed police that the girl may have been lost. The police took the girl in their custody and we waited for around half an hour.”

Lotlikar said at around 11.30 pm, a man approached the police and claimed to be the father.

“But since we were unsure, we asked him to show us any of her photos in his mobile phone. He then came with the women of his family and the girl was finally handed over after a through verification.”

“We were relieved that the girl was reunited with her family.”
