While Goa is rejoicing over Monday’s development in the Supreme Court regarding the Kalsa-Bhandura water diversion development, authorities and activists from North Karnataka were not ready to accept the fact that the Supreme Court decision has favoured Goa.
Authorities and activists were also not ready to react to the Supreme Court decision and insisted that unless they get a copy of the order and go through the order in details, they would not react.
Karnataka's counsel for the Supreme Court Mohan Katarki and team also expressed displeasure over the rejoicing in Goa.
“Any comment before getting the decision of the Supreme Court in this matter may not be appropriate,” a member of the legal team observed.
President of Belagavi District Kannada Organisations Action Committee Ashok Chandargi said there is no point jumping to conclusions unless the actual order copy from the Supreme Court is received.
“The DPR approved by the CWC has been received by Karnataka and on the basis of that, the Karnataka chief minister has stated that the state is ready to start the work on the project. And we are hopeful that the work would start soon,” said Chandargi.
“Unless we receive an order copy of the SC, we will not come to any conclusions as our demand for the supply of drinking water from the Kalasa-Bhandura water diversion project will continue till we get justice,” Chandargi added.
Meanwhile speaking to media persons in Belagavi on Monday, former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumarswamy has accused the Karnataka government of misleading people of Karnataka by making false assurances about the project.
“Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is misleading the people by stating that the project would be implemented soon though the final order from the Supreme Court is still awaited,” Kumarswamy said.
