Youth leader Prabhav Naik on Saturday questioned the authorities for the failure to carry out trimming of trees in the Aquem area of the city, posing a threat to school children, senior citizens and commuters.
He pointed out that despite an order of the South Goa Collector dated July 23, 2024, the PWD has failed to carry out the job of trimming branches till date.
“I do not know whether this is because of the lethargy of the government or political pressure. Government officials should perform their duties in accordance with law. I had not asked for any personal favour, what I had demanded was purely in the interest of citizens of Margao,” he said, while demanding to know the reasons behind the lethargy on the part of the PWD officials from undertaking trimming of trees.
Saying that he is not politicising the issue, Prabhav, however, said he is angry as well as hurt to see the delay in carrying out a simple work of trimming of trees for almost 25 days since the Collector issued the order.
