After battling for life for the last five days, the 27-year-old law student from Afghanistan, Mohammad Sarwar Anwari has finally succumbed to his injuries at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim.
Maina-Curtorim police station in-charge, PI Arun Desai informed that Anwari breathed his last at the GMC, Bambolim on Friday. His mortal remains, he said, has been handed over the officials of the Afghanistan embassy.
Following his death, the Maina-Curtorim police have arrested the driver of the car that was involved in the accident at Nuvem.
PI Arun Desai informed that the deceased was riding pillion on a scooter when the two-wheeler was involved in an accident with a car. The rider, also an Afghan national, who had sustained injuries in the accident, has been discharged from the GMC, he added.
PI Arun informed that the police have summoned the owner of the two-wheeler for inquiry since preliminary inquiries have revealed that the ill-fated scooter had no insurance.
