VASCO: As many as 61 anglers participated in the 8th All Goa Angling competition organised at Harbour by social worker and Businessman Vishwas Shetye from Sada on the occasion of Independence day. The event, held near the Customs House at Sada-Vasco. The event also saw a huge crowd who had arrived to cheer the participants and buy the fresh fish caught by the participants. The prizes were given as per the weight of the catch of the fish. The event also offered prizes to the person who was the first to catch a fish, crab and a snake eel.
The first prize of Rs 5,000 was won by Chandrakant Shehdad (3.175 kg), second prize of Rs 3,000 was won by Ulhas Honnaverkar (1.910 kg) and the third prize of Rs 2,000 was won by Sham Gad (1.795 kg). The fourth and fifth consolation prizes of Rs 500 each were awarded to Ranesh D (1.085 kgs) and Aju K (0.915 kgs). Nitin Honnaverkar won the prize for the first fish catch, Gauresh Shelekar for the first crab catch and Anil Divkar for being the first to catch a snake eel.
