The King’s Sports Academy’s Next Gen League is a league with a difference in many aspects. Billed as Goa's largest Inter-School football tournament, the League is into 2nd edition and is witnessing key clashes on the all-weather Futsal Pavilion and the artificial turf football ground at The King's School, Sao Jose De Areal.

The Next Gen League 2.0 is an initiative by The King’s Sports Academy to promote football development at School Level by organising multiple matches across different age categories in a long league format for participating school teams over the course of the academic year.

“We do not publish scores for the matches, as the league is designed for development purposes, winning teams receive +3 points while the losing team receives +1 point, a draw gives both teams +2 points,” organizers of the league said.

The Next Gen League is organised by 'The King's Sports Academy along with Venue Partner, The King's School and was started in the last academic year.

“We trust that this long league has given many students a lot of awesome playing time, of building confidence, stamina, strength, agility, and intelligent play,” said Chairman of Kings School Melvin Pereira while looking back at the league.

“The League has also inculcated values of making friends, handling victories and learning through defeat, resilience, teamwork and balancing school life with football. In short accomplishments on the Turf that lead to real life achievements. The high-level professionalism, planning and prioritizing was an important element. We are extremely grateful for the support of all the schools and a great team at TKS and TKSA,” he added.

The Next Gen League 1.0 last year culminated in a fabulous Awards Ceremony.

Building on last year’s success, this year’s edition promises to be bigger and better, featuring more categories and an increased number of matches, the organizers say.

Twenty-eight schools from South Goa are competing across various age groups, including the exciting addition of Futsal. The competition now includes: U6 Mixed Boys and Girls (Football 3-a-side), U8 Mixed Boys and Girls (Futsal 5-a-side), U10 Mixed Boys and Girls (Futsal 5-a-side), U16 Boys (Football 11-a-side) and U16 Girls (Football 11-a-side).

Last year the League kicked off with U12 Mixed Boys and Girls (Football 7-a-side), U14 Boys (Football 9-a-side) and U14 Girls (Football 9-a-side) categories.

This year’s tournament's kick-off on July 11 and so far, 33 matches have been completed. This week three matches were held in the U12 Mixed Boys and Girls - 7-a-Side Football
