Panaji: Employment Minister Babush Monserrate, has disputed recent unemployment data showing the state with the highest joblessness in the country. He stated that the figures provided by the Union Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation did not come from Goa’s Labour Department.
Babush further explained that Goa’s Labour Commissioner has already visited Delhi and met with the Union Labour Minister to discuss the issue. He urged the state's Planning and Statistics Department to follow up on the matter and ensure accurate data is represented.
Babush also said that the state does not accept the unemployment figures released by the central ministry and that further discussions are ongoing with the concern departments, he added.
