The Colva Civic and Consumer Forum has submitted to the High Court that though members of the Forum and Colva villagers are willing to connect to the common STP at Colva, application forms available for applying for the connections are not made available for the public.
The Forum further submitted that the Sewerage and Infrastructural Development Corporation of Goa has not yet laid down the underground pipelines to connect the domestic septic tanks to the common STP in most wards of Colva Panchayat jurisdiction.
In an affidavit filed by Forum Secretary Judith Almeida, it was submitted that construction of sewage chambers and laying of pipelines have not yet been completed in some of the wards in the village of Colva in Phase-I, adding that work on Phase-II has not started till date.
Judith further stated that water was seen gushing/overflowing out of the said sewage chambers that have been built in ward 1 and ward 3 of Colva village during the last monsoons. An audit of the quality of works needs to be undertaken before any sewage line can be connected, she stated in the affidavit.
