Deepotsav was celebrated at Dongrim-Mandur at Shree Shasti Shantadurga temple ground with the illumination of the image of Lord Shri Ram by using over 17,000 diyas.

The Deepotsav was celebrated on Thursday night, in anticipation of the inauguration of Shree Ram Mandir at Ayodhya on January 22.

A large number of villagers from Dongrim, Mandur, Azossim and surrounding areas participated in the festival by lighting the diyas.

Among those who participated in lighting the diyas included St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar, Mandur Sarpanch Prashant Naik, panchas, committee members of different temples from the village and others.

The stunning display was captured on drone and it showcased the talent of the youth from Dongrim.

Speaking to reporters, MLA Borkar congratulated the youth of Dongrim for showcasing their talent in creating a stunning visual of Lord Ram with the usage of diyas.

“The Ram Temple will be inaugurated on January 22 and this Deepotsav is one way of partaking in the grand celebration,” Borkar informed.

Sarpanch Naik said it took them three days to visualise the concept and put in practice.

“We have used over 17,000 diyas to create the image of Lord Ram and the villagers gave good response in the success of the Deepotsav,” Naik said while adding that more programmes are in the offing in the build-up to the inauguration of Ram Mandir.

“On Friday, in all the temples of the village the chants of ‘Ram Naam’ will be held,” Naik informed while adding that a yatra will be taken out on Sunday. “On January 22, we are going to telecast live the programme of the inauguration of Shree Ram Mandir at Ayodhya for the benefit of the villagers,” he added.
