Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai on Thursday said said every elected representative must serve the people irrespective of political party affiliation caste and creed.

"This is the concept of democracy and elected representatives must render justice to all after being elected as their representatives without any discrimination," said Pillai.

Pillai, who was on a one-day visit to Mormugao Taluka on Thursday, was addressing a large gathering of people along with panch members and sarpanchas of Chicalim and Bogmalo panchayat in the presence of Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho

The governor praised Godinho and described him as a people-centric leader.

"Godinho actively participates in various discussions in Delhi or other parts of the country. Godinho is a dynamic leader of not only Goa but also a leader of national importance," said Pillai.

Pillai said he had resumed his tour of visiting all villages after a break.

"I have been moving across all constituencies and also inviting village leaders and MLAs of the ruling and the opposition. If God permits, I will complete the tour of all panchayats within the next six months and this will be a classic example for our entire system. We must visit people because people are supreme in a democracy," said Pillai.

Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho thanked the governor for visiting the panchayat and encouraging elected panchyat members.

Chicalim Panchayat Sarpanch Kamla Prasad Yadav said the governor’s visit had motivated panch members and assured that Chicalim panchayat would promote development and administration at the grass roots for the next five years.
