The Health Minister appears to have shifted gears on his department in view of the fast-approaching Assembly polls.
The minister chaired a meeting on Monday with the intention of fast-tracking the commissioning of his dream project, the super-specialty block at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Bambolim and also the South Goa District Hospital in Margao.
Taking to Twitter, the minister announced, “Had a detailed meeting to discuss a model for commissioning Super Specialty Block and South Goa District Hospital. To take this forward, we shall be having a comprehensive meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to commission the projects at the earliest.”
The review meeting chaired by the Health Minister was attended by officials from the Health Department along with Secretary Health Ravi Dhawan and included an interactive session where the concern of fast-tracking of certain projects was deliberated upon.
It may be recalled that CM Sawant had announced the decision to finally designate SGDH as a Covid Hospital in the first week of September 2020 in the wake of a rise in Covid cases in the aftermath of the festive season. Several services and facilities were later shifted from Hospicio to SGDH in order to create additional Covid infrastructure within the Hospicio premises.
