Mapusa police arrested nine persons and seized cash of Rs 12,900 and gambling accessories on Wednesday.Police conducted five different raids on gambling activities mostly on people involved in accepting matka bets.
Mapusa SDPO Jivba Dalvi informed that police in a raid arrested one Arjun Chandrakant Gawade (38) of Shetyewado-Mapusa, Vijaykumar Manichand Oswal (51) resident of Dando-Siolim, Ramesh Ganesh Budhathoki (21) of Acoi-Mapusa, Rohit Ravi Roy (28) resident of Duler-Mapusa and Vijay Suresh Salunke (35) of Thivim and seized from their possession cash of Rs 5,900.
In another raid conducted in close premises owned by Pushparaj Pawaskar near Swiss Chapel, Angod, police caught Yash Kishor Naik (27) of Khorlim, Ravi Kalappa Laman (34), Prakash Lamani (30) both from Khorlim and Pandurang Shankar Teli (39) resident of Peddem, Mapusa for involving in card gambling activities.
Cash of Rs 7,000 and playing cards were seized from them.
The nine persons were booked under various sections of Goa Daman and Diu Public Gambling Act.
They were arrested and lodged in police custody.
Mapusa PI Shitakant Nayak headed the team and carried out raid under guidance of Mapus SDPO Jivba Dalvi.
