Pilerne-Marra Sarpanch Sandeep Bandodkar has said the panchayat has been working hard to maintain the ecology of the village.
He was speaking to reporters after the Biodiversity Management Committee (BMC) of Pilerne-Marra Panchayat received the Goa State Biodiversity Conservation Award-2022 from the Goa State Biodiversity Board (GSBB).
“The GSBB has presented this award to the Pilerne-Marra BMC in appreciation of its contribution in the field of conservation of biodiversity, wetland, ecology and environment.”
“The Board has also taken note of the efforts taken by the Pilerne-Marra BMC in preparing the People’s Biodiversity Register of the village, efforts and contribution in the process of notifying Saulem Lake at Pilerne as wetland under Wetland (Conservation and Management) Rules 2017 in the state of Goa.”
“The credit of this success goes to all members of the Panchayat as well as villagers. Earlier in 2018, Pilerne panchayat was awarded for being the cleanest Panchayat in the State. The panchayat will continue to work hard and maintain the ecology of the village,” said Bandodkar.
