Small time Bollywood actor and social media influencer Poonam Pandey and her spouse Sam Bombay were chargesheeted by the Canacona Police for a controversial, racy photoshoot at the picturesque Chapoli dam in South Goa, following which a complaint was filed against her in 2020 for obscenity.
The chargesheet which was filed before the Judicial Magistrate First Class Canacona, has accused Panday and Bombay of violating sections 292, 293 (obscenity) and 294 (reciting or uttering any obscene song or words in public place), 447 (criminal trespass) and violating provisions of the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 as well as the Information Technology Act.
"The chargesheet has been filed before the magistrate. After it is admitted, the Court will formally issue summons and the trial will begin," a police official attached to the Canacona police station told reporters.
In November 2020, Pandey and Bombay were arrested by police in connection with the controversial, obscene video shoot at the dam, a restricted site in South Goa.
Pandey, who was staying at a beach resort in North Goa along with her husband, was first detained by officials from the Calangute police station and later handed over to the Canacona police officials, who had registered the FIR following popular outrage over the photoshoot.
According to police, the controversial video was shot during the early hours of October 31, 2020.
The controversial photoshoot had triggered protests from locals in the area, who had demanded her arrest. A local police inspector was also suspended following the incident.
