Stating that the Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has not issued any NOCs for the controversial Bhutani project at Sancoale in 2008, Environment Minister Aleixo Sequeira Wednesday dared anybody to produce the NOCs alleged to have been issued by the GCZMA.
Sequeira said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has categorically stated that no approvals have been granted to the project during his tenure. “I believe and accept the word of the Chief Minister,” he said.
He, however, pointed out that he had seen on social media a report that the CRZ Authority had on February 15 and August 8, 2008 issued NOCs for the project. Incidentally, Sequeira was the State’s Environment Minister in 2008 in the government headed by then Congress Chief Minister Digambar Kamat.
“I challenge anybody to produce the NOCs. The GCZMA has not issued any NOCs to anybody regarding this particular project. This is my open challenge. Whoever has made the allegation should produce the NOCs. If we have done something wrong, we have the courage to stand up and own it. My request is don’t attempt to misguide the innocent public,” he added.
