The Children’s Court on Monday extended the police remand of Bengaluru’s AI start-up CEO Suchana Seth, charged with murdering her toddler, by five days till January 19.
She was produced in the Court with her face covered and strict police security, as her six-day police remand ended.
During the remand hearing, the Calangute police sought to extend her custody by eight days stating that she was only talking in bits and parts and not disclosing certain things during the interrogation and overall investigation.
The police are also taking the assistance of a psychiatric doctor at the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour for the interrogation.
“The panchnama is complete but further interrogation is required because the accused isn’t disclosing certain things. She has shown the weapon with which she slit her wrists but has not revealed the murder weapon. We have to interrogate her,” the police submitted.
When the Court asked Seth if she had anything to say, she replied, “No, I don’t.”
Suchana has not been cooperating in the investigation since the day of her arrest even as the Chitradurga (Karnataka) police caught her red-handed with her four-year-old son’s body in the trolley bag, that she was carrying en route to Bengaluru from Candolim in a local cab.
The Calangute police recorded the statement of the toddler’s father Venkat Raman last Saturday, who deposed against Suchana.
The estranged couple were also brought face to face in the police station during which they had an argument and blamed each other for the death of their son.
